Salvage Crew Saga: SC20 Uplink

One more Salvage Crew figure complete; this time SC20, a cyberpunk ganger with plenty of guns.

SC20 - Codename: Uplink

Subject is a former communications specialist during the Northbeam-Microfarer Conflict in Delta Herculis, serving with Bull-Rush (cf. Subject SC17).  Following the drawdown of hostilities, Uplink became a freelance gun-for-hire.  Subject has been seen accompanying Johnny Cinderheart (cf. Subject SC22) in numerous encounters, providing comms expertise and additional firepower in support of Johnny's hacking and espionage.

First Look:  Aside from being heavily loaded with firepower, the visor reminded me of those worn by the Tele-Vipers in the old G.I. Joe cartoons.  Various messages would scroll across their visors, and so I was inspired to freehand a similar message on this figure.  Other than that, I think it's a great figure with a full loadout (machine gun, shotgun, pistol, and grenades).

Painting:  The random color generator results were red (1), blue (5), and purple (6).

With those results, I decided to roll with the Tele-Viper inspiration and go with a blue uniform (VGC Imperial Blue, Magic Blue, AP Blue Tone Ink) and purple accessories - gloves, boots, and belts (VGC Royal Purple, Hexed Lichen, AP Blue Tone Ink).  Red was used for the rear pouches, pistol holster, shotgun grip, machine gun, and grenades (VGC Scarlett Red, AP Soft Tone Ink).  The flesh was painted a light-medium shade (MSP HD Caucasian Flesh, AP Soft Tone Ink) and hair black (VGC Coal Black, Wolf Grey, AP Dark Tone Ink).

The visor was painted a light gray, with a slightly darker blue tone toward the edges (VGC Wolf Grey, Electric Blue, Sombre Grey).  The warning message ("ALERT") was then painted in red (VGC Gory Red).

Conclusion:  I really liked this figure, and spent some extra time on him to give it a little extra detail.  I think the letters on the visor turned out very well, considering I almost never freehand.  In retrospect, I would liked to have used a lighter red to (hopefully) portray more of a "glass" look for the visor.  However, since I wasn't sure how it would turn out, I wasn't sure if a lighter shade of red would be lost (due to less contrast).  The colors on the uniform turned out nicely, and look reasonable.

Only one more figure remains, and the Salvage Crew will be complete (as will the Seventh Target on my 6MMRPC Hit List).  However, the Salvage Crew Saga will continue as I complete the bonus robots and drones!
